Fake products from Benue and Nasarawa States worth over N105 million were yesterday, pulverized by the National Agency for Food, Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
Talking at the dumpsite in Lafia, the Acting Director General, NAFDAC, Mrs Yetunde Oni, spoken to by the Director of Special Duties, NAFDAC, Alhaji Abubakar Jimoh, said the occasional annihilation exercise was one of NAFDAC’s methodologies in forestalling dissemination of fake, fake pharmaceuticals and unwholesome items in the nation.
“In NAFDAC, zero resistance is the thing that we are out for. A medication forger is most exceedingly terrible than an equipped looter. That is the reason we are pushing for a lifelong incarceration for medication forgers at the National Assembly,” she said.
In his appreciated address, Nasarawa State Coordinator of NAFDAC, Mr. Micheal Attah, said the activity is a proof that NAFDAC is investigating every possibility in freeing the general public of spurious, fake and fake items.
He uncovered that the aggregate sum of items pulverized was worth N105, 350, 900 with 80 percent of the items originating from Benue State in light of the fact that the office in Nasarawa State had before devastated items worth N24million.
