Nicole Kidman sets fire to her latest role in HBO’s “Big Little Lies” with some scintillating topless scenes from the latest episode. At 49, Nicole is fit and toned. No wonder she has no problem taking off her clothes on screen.
The Australian actress has never shied away from nude scenes in movies during her career.
She’s gone topless or semi-nude in such films as 2015’s “Queen of the Desert” with Robert Pattinson, and “Strangerland,” the same year. Before that she doffed her kit in 2012’s “The Paperboy,” and “Hemingway & Gellhorn.”
She also had nude scenes in “Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus” in 2006 and “Birth,” “Cold Mountain” and “The Human Stain in 2003 and 2004.
Before that she appeared in various stages of undress in 11 other movies, including “Eyes Wide Shut,” with Tom Cruise in 1999.
Suffice to say, she’s looking stunning in each picture spanning almost two decades.
Kidman has been a big believer in diet and workout over the yeaars, which accounts for her phenomenal shape now that she’s nearing 50.
The willowy 5-foot, 11-inch model varies her workouts, from yoga to Pilates and weightlifting, to keep them interesting, with an emphasis on cardio and strength training.
Outside the gym, she’s also an enthusiastic golfer and a solid club tennis player. In addition she runs, often up to 10 miles a day, and swims for 30 minutes at a time to help keep her looking long and lean.
Swimming is ideal because it lengthens and smooths the muscles. Yoga helps her stay youthful and flexible and strengthens core muscles.
As for her diet, she favors nutrient heavy, organic foods, but isn’t above indulging herself with tasty snacks, mostly pizza, pasta and cake. She just eats it in moderation and makes sure it doesn’t exceed more than 20 percent of her diet.
She’s also a believer in portion control. She’ll eat five or six small meals a day to help her metabolism and moderate blood sugar levels.
In her new HBO series, Nicole plays Celeste, a wealthy California woman who is married to an abusive husband.
In fact, her nude scene shows her taking a shower when husband Perry (Alexander Skarsgard) barges in on her. You may note, that her body is covered in bruises.
Perry gives her a diamond necklace to make up for a previous incident and then forces himself on her again. Celeste does not resist, but clearly looks distressed.
In another scene, Celeste teases her husband with some cyber-sex, suggesting their relationship isn’t all bad.
The couple seek therapy and as is often the case, Celeste covers up her husband’s abuse.
“There’s a line between passion and rage,” Perry says. “And, I don’t know, sometimes we cross that.”
The HBO mini-series is based on a book by Liane Moriarty. It’s set in the upscale town of Monterrey, Calif. A murder sets the stage for the drama to come.
Reese Witherspoon co-stars in the series as Madeline, a nosy neighbor who leads the local clique of bored, rich mothers.
Shailene Woodley is younger and much poorer than Madeline’s group. Laura Dern plays Renata, another mom.
