A wildfire that spread to 15,000 acres of land has killed 3 people. The fire spread at a resort-heavy area of eastern Tennessee, forcing residents to evacuate.

The fire started Monday from the Great Smoky Mountains, and into residential areas of Sevier County iGatlinburg and parts of Pigeon Forge.

According to officials, more than 250 buildings in the county were damaged or destroyed in the fire in just one day.
The fire continued to burn Wednesday morning, forcing 14,000 residents and tourists to evacuate the area with only their clothes.
According to spokeswoman of the National Park Service Dana Soehn. The fire at Sevier County started earlier this morning on the mountains  trail 10 miles south of Gatlinburg. However, heavy winds helped caused the fire to spread rapidly into the Gatlinburg area on Monday.

According to investigators , the fire is believed to be “human caused” and still under investigation.
