Katherine Espín, Ecuardo, has been crowned as Miss Earth 2016 succeeding beauty queen Angelia Ong.
Other winners are:
Miss Earth Air: Michelle Gomez of Colombia
Miss Earth Water: Stephanie De Zorzi of Venezuela
Miss Earth Fire: Bruna Zanardo of Brazil
The event was held on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City with about 83 delegates from all over the world, and Marc Nelson and Rovilson Fernandez as the host.
The event started off presenting all 83 delegates, followed by the swimsuit competition
After the swimsuit competition, the top 8 contestants had to pick a tag to answer the first round of the Question and answers.
The top four contestants moved on to the final stage of Question and Answer. Here’s the question Miss Ecuador was asked, “The Paris agreement on climate change is a historic international deal that seeks to limit global warning to below 1.5 degrees centigrade. If you were selected as Miss Earth 2016, what would be your program to protect Mother Earth from climate change?”
This was her response,
“I truly believe in the 5 R’s, which is re-think, reduce, re-use, recycle and respect. Because I believe that as human beings, if we apply that to our everyday lives, we can make a change, and we will reduce the problem that we just mentioned. If we apply that to our everyday lives, I believe that we can save the place we live in which is our Mother Earth”
This is the second time Ecuador has won the Manila-based pageant.
